I agree, it is a bit complicated, but thats the process for Commons to make sure, that we stay clean of copyright violation. I summarize what to do: please send the following text, with replacing the capital text with the correct information, to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org:
-
- I hereby assert that I am the creator and/or sole owner of the exclusive copyright of http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:John_Quinlan_Circa_2006.jpg, http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:John_Quinlan_%26_His_Manager_Peter_Karalekas_in_2001.jpg and http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Brutus_The_Barber_Beefcake_%26_John_Quinlan_in_2001.jpg.
-
- I agree to place that work into the public domain as stated in http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Template:PD-self
-
- I acknowledge that I grant anyone the right to use the work in a commercial product, and to modify it according to their needs, as long as they abide by the terms of the license and any other applicable laws.
-
- I am aware that the free license only concerns copyright, and I reserve the option to take action against anyone who uses this work in a libelous way, or in violation of personality rights, trademark restrictions, etc.
-
- I acknowledge that I cannot withdraw this agreement, and that the work may or may not be kept permanently on a Wikimedia project.
-
- DATE, NAME OF THE COPYRIGHT HOLDER
The email system (called OTRS) is operated by trustees disclosed to the Wikimedia foundation, any personal data or email adress will be handled confidentialy. Thank you. --Martin H. (talk) 17:07, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

-
- This images are here, see your gallery and your log. --Martin H. (talk) 16:45, 15 October 2009 (UTC)
-
-
- All images you see in this gallery link are all on Commons and of course NOT deleted, otherwise they will not show up in the gallery. Just klick on them. --Martin H. (talk) 21:03, 15 October 2009 (UTC)
Commons:Deletion requests/Images of Category John Quinlan (wrestler)[edit]
Relax, I know you're angry and anxious to undo the damage that's been done, but the images are a bit rubbishy anyway and they're not likely to be used or spread as copyright violations across the internet. The deletion procedure is an opportunity for any and all editors to have a say, that's why it's supposed to take a while. --Simonxag (talk) 18:03, 18 November 2009 (UTC)
What you've said guarantees that the images are already in the hands of someone who intends mischief. So it's not really an issue of the stuff getting out from the Commons. I hope there isn't any more data with financial/personal relevance that can have been accessed. --Simonxag (talk) 00:16, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
copied over from my talkpage to keep the discussion at one place. --Túrelio (talk) 07:24, 5 January 2010 (UTC)
You deleted photos with proper consent by mistake Turelio[edit]
The photos you deleted today Turelio were not supposed to be deleted. They had 100% proper consent, I should know, I took ALL of them, I own ALL of them, I am the copyright owner of ALL of them and ALL of John Quinlan (wrestler) photos that you deleted today I allowed into Public Domain. I was shocked that somebody would go in and delete material like this. There was a small issue a couple months or so ago when I gave this password to others to use and one individual uploaded a batch of photos that were for private scrapbook use only. Those were the photos to be removed and they were removed properly a couple of months ago and the case was closed. All the photos in the Wikimedia Commons gallery for John Quinlan (wrestler) this morning....before you deleted them SHOULD NOT have been deleted. Those were the good ones that I, his wife, took with my camera and gave Commons 100% consent to have these photos placed in Public Domain. I was outraged when I saw somebody went in and removed them but now I understand that you assumed you were doing the right thing and appreciate your effort in doing what you thought was right, no worries. Just would like these photos restored back in the Wikimedia Commons gallery where they were before you deleted them asap. An honest mistake, also the new one I uploaded today I hope was not deleted as well, if it was I'm sure I can add it again. I look forward to getting this issue quickly corrected.
Thanks So Much For Understanding, Jaderocker (talk) 04:46, 5 January 2010 (UTC)
- All those images had been tagged for speedy deletion by XalD with the rationale "No source, no public domain, uploaded without proper consent of owner. See Commons:Deletion requests/Images of Category John Quinlan (wrestler)". Besides the fact that many of the photos were not of high quality (sorry), after taking a short look to the above mentioned deletion request, the speedy-command looked totally justified for me. Now, below I have listed all those images that were deleted under that rationale. So you should discuss with XalD whether all of the claimed problems (No source, no public domain, uploaded without proper consent) are already or can be solved and eventually provide some proof for that. Thereafter the images can be un-deletd, which is technically an easy thing. --Túrelio (talk) 07:24, 5 January 2010 (UTC)

- Hi! Some images of John Quinlan have an OTRS permission, you can see here that pictures wich were approved by Stifle. Why just didn't you the same this time? ·×α£đ·es 19:17, 5 January 2010 (UTC)
I'm so sorry XaID! I didn't think it would be a big deal & I was wrong. The above photos were taken by me of my husband. I own all of them. Your 100% right, they all need the same OTRS permission tag like the other photos. Could you properly tag them under the same license and undelete them since they have always been from my personal camera. Commons is such a great place and I really appreciate your response to me today. Let me know.
Thanks
Jaderocker (talk) 19:26, 5 January 2010 (UTC)
- Don't worry, just remember do the right things next time. I guess Túrelio could un-delete the files, then, you'll can tag it correctly. Greetings, ·×α£đ·es 19:30, 5 January 2010 (UTC)
Thank you XaID, I don't see them in the gallery. There is only the 7 photos that were tagged properly in the first place. I can't remember what license I used though. Would I be correct to say I used:
Multi-license with CC-BY-SA-3.0 and GFDL (recommended).....from the drop dow box? Or would it be another license????? If Túrelio could un-delete the files I don't know how I would go about changing the tag, the only way I know is to do it from scratch. This would kinda be a pain, do you think Túrelio when he un-delets them could properly tag them as well?

Jaderocker (talk) 20:05, 5 January 2010 (UTC)
- Hi Jaderocker or Mrs. Quinlan,
- if you are willing to sent a permission for all the deleted images (1 email can cover all, but all have to be mentioned by their filename or URL) to OTRS, then I can un-delete them now and tag them with OTRS-pending. As for the type of license, I would recommend to take CC-BY-SA-3.0, but not PD because with PD you loose (nearly) all control over the images. But you have to add the license by yourself, as adding the license is a legal act that should only be performed by the rights holder. --Túrelio (talk) 21:08, 5 January 2010 (UTC)
Thank you Túrelio, I will do that. Is there a template I can use to send all the files to OTRS. Could you send me a template or the exact info I need to include when I send and email to OTRS? I guess I have wait for you to give me the green light to add the license myself since they are not un-deleted yet, right? Thank you & yes this is the Mrs. Look forward to doing this as soon as possible. Thank you so much for your time,
Jaderocker (talk) 00:31, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
Hello Túrelio, I just noticed that the template to email to OTRS is at the top of this talk page from the first set of photos on here. I'll just use the same template for these photos. I had one extra photo I added within the past couple of days. I don't see that one anywhere and I would like to add that one as well. Probably wait to see if I see it and if not I'll just upload it from scratch.
Thanks,
Jaderocker (talk) 01:35, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

This request is backed by him.
Thank You Very Much,
Mrs. Quinlan
That is the copy which I just sent. Images should be all set, just need to wait for you to give me the green light to tag them with the proper license. I look forward to hearing from you. I appreciate everything you have done for me.
Jaderocker (talk) 02:04, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
- As you'll have seen already I've restored the images, remoed the speedy-deletion-tag and added the OTRS-pending tag. After some time (may take weeks, yes) an OTRS-volunteer will check your permission mail and put a so-called OTRS-ticket on each of the images, and with that everything is o.k. In order to avoid getting spam emails, I would recommend you to remove your real email address from the above copied permission text, as I've done already on my talkpage. --Túrelio (talk) 08:24, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
That's great Túrelio, thank you very much for being so kind and taking the time out of your busy schedule to fix this little mishap. One question, as far as license goes, you stated above that:
"an OTRS-volunteer will check your permission mail and put a so-called OTRS-ticket on each of the images, and with that everything is o.k."
Does that mean the images will be automatically licensed under: Multi-license with CC-BY-SA-3.0 and GFDL (recommended)
I only ask this because you said after an OTRS-volunteer puts a ticket on each of the images, all will be o.k. If you could just clarify this with me I would be very appreciative.
Thank You So Much Túrelio,
Jaderocker (talk) 09:27, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
- "Does that mean the .." - No, because you wrote "I agree to place that work into the public domain " in your permission email. So they will be put into PD. If you want to change that you should immediately send a follow-up permission email to OTRS stating that you made an error in your first email and that you release the images under CC-BY-SA-3.0 or under CC-BY-SA-3.0 and GFDL. Only the copyright holder can put images under a specific license, no one else. The OTRS-volunteers just check, confirm and record your release. --Túrelio (talk) 09:41, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
OK, thank you. I'll message your talk page after I send an email to OTRS.
