(the car was in my distant family, only had 2 owners before me) ![]() ![]() Is in spot on condition, apart from a little driver side rear rust bubbling, i have blasted what i could see with waxoyl from the inside and outside. and painted over it for now! it will have to be seen to eventually though. Heres what ive done so far: -added alloy wheels -upgraded head unit to JVC -added rear 10cm speakers -Painted front and rear bumpers gloss black, side strips and skirts also. -Painted interior dashboard, doorbits and detailed things in white -Doubled up Rear fogs -Added a GTI spoiler (also sprayed gloss black) -Let a bit of fluid out (still trying to get my head around the lowering guide) -added a K&N style air filter to the engine -treated the underside of car for rust and sealed it. -tinted rear lights with fly eyes kit -debadged and custom badges added/made -GTI rev counter and clocks -bee-sting Ariel -GTI "lightning seats" back and front + doorcards -dyed carpet black ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Need some advise on where to go next, what do you think is still tasteful and not stupid? My plans are: -Lower it properly once i can get my head around the info -Install this? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=350417613159#ht_1903wt_905 - Buy these? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ROVER-100-200-SIDE-REPEATERS-CRYSTAL-BLACK-LIGHTS-NEW-/120583016472?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item1c134ed018 - Get some MPI alloys - tint rear windows (already tried and is a pain!) - was considering painting the alloys black but im not sure. - callipers sprayed red? Let me know what you guys think, or any tips are welcome! ![]()

If you want smoked repeaters get a smoked pair off a ZR, theyre guarunteed quality and look good. As for the exhaust... theyre very loud, look into getting a GTi setup or similar... they have back pressure that the K series engines are tuned for and sound great at revs. Looking really good, Each to there own I say! Would look good in colour coded red with a matt black dashboard and interior items, would be a lot less shiny. Also would look excellent with a 200 BRM front grille fitted in black. theres a few metros on here that have them in orange. Edited by MetroMuppet 28/11/2010 11:59 AM

But i really like the look of it, is it loud still even without a decat pipe? I am thinking about a laguna splitter too, do you reckon both would look good? and also, this BRM grille where can i find one?

![]() MP Admin Posts: 17870 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: Gloucester | nice clean example!! As for ideas, I would do the following: - Would be good with a leather steering wheel from a R200? I got the 200vi one in mine with stalk remote control, the fatter grip and leather feels much nicer when driving. You can get a patch lead adaptor for under £20 of ebay for the JVC headunit too to use the rover radio remote. I've done a how too guide. http://www.metropower.org.uk/Portal/default.asp?id=279&mnu=279 Paint the A pilar trims black too? They pull upwards to remove them but I did cut my hand as they are sharpe! Find some GTi B pilar trims and do them black too. Don't paint the wheels, they look good that clean silver!! Red calipers and black rear drums would look good. Electric windows and remote central locking.

I am thinking about a laguna splitter too, do you reckon both would look good? and also, this BRM grille where can i find one? As for the exhaust, like all 3.5 systems, it's very loud even with decat, thats why most car manufacturers make the last section of the pipe much smaller diameter to the res of the system. You can get a BRM grille from ebay, or a breakers for 20-30 quid, Laguna splitters look good, but are expensive for what they are... If you do get one make sure you cut the ends rather than the middle as it looks better and is easier to line up symetrically, plus then it is easier to sell on. I think the next thing on the cards should be the suspension, theres members on here that can do the job for about 100 quid all in, but make sure you know they can do it. I would say the BRM grille would look good in white as it contrasts the bumper.

![]() Events Organiser MP Admin Posts: 1923 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: Somerset | Thanks for that list martin, and as for the BRM grille i will investigate! Shame really, was just about to sink my teeth into that exhaust. But i'd rather you tell me than i found out by loosing my hearing! Carpet dye i used link: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BLACK-CARPET-FABRIC-DYE-SUITABLE-DYE-MOST-COLOURS-/290426203560?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item439ec02da8#ht_820wt_905 LETHAL stuff mind, go steady wear overalls and gloves cause this stuff sticks to anything like shit to a blanket. also, i did it with the carpet it as it really doesnt take that much time to dry. (in summer) But taking it out would save the overwhelming smell of permanent marker pen whilst driving for a week! Piccy: Before: ![]() After: ![]() ![]() Edited by Morey 2/12/2010 8:01 AM

Flexible hose wedged on K&N style two cone filter, cheapo heat shield! ![]() ![]() My engine bay needs a good clean, but how shall i go about it? blast it with a powerhose? or will that let water into all the wrong places? or old fashioned damp rag wipe down? Currently: ![]() EXTRA: In the past month i also repsrayed rear quarter panels to match all others. ![]()

If it doesn't start water will be inside it and your have to take it off and dry it. the rear is quite water proof. Need a new bonnet stay clip. Easy to remove as you need to push a little tab back with a flat head screw driver on the engine side. I think its the same on a few rovers and some fords aswell so easy to find.

Could be worth putting some wheel cleaner on there aswell to help break down the dirt a bit first. All the plastic and metal parts come up really well. the oil near the spark plugs and onto of the gearbox will come off eaiser. Also dont aim at the end of the clutch cable otherwise your need to regrease it as it will squeek.
