New user Posts: 2 | Hi All, Well, I have been hiding in the shadows long enough now so I thought I would take the time to properly introduce myself and my reason for the joining the forum. I have been a long time Metro fan, getting my first one in 1988 (CityX) and then upgrading in 1990 to an MG Metro. I loved that car and drove it till some "insert profanity of your choice here" decided to rear end me in it whilst I was sat at a set of lights. I was stationary, he was in a volvo 240 estate doing 60mph. Needless to say neither the car or myself came out of it well. After my broken back had healed I bought a volvo and my love affair with Swedish cars was born, culminating in many Volvo's and for the last 10yrs Saab's since. But I never lost my love of the Metro. I started doing track days about 8yrs ago, starting with a £53 e-bay special and have slowly worked up to a very serious Mitsubishi Evo 1 (just under a ton in weight and running over 600BHP). But I keep watching the Drayton Manor MG Metro Cup and thinking, I really should be back in a Metro. So, here I am, about to put the Evo up for sale and then using the money from that to fund my dream Metro. Be kind to me as although I am used to cars and tinkering, I will no doubt be asking some obvious questions (I promise I will use the search function first). My thoughts are along the lines of either a VVC or 1.8T car, but it needs to be 100% reliable and aroudn 200bhp. I have an option on a Talon 100RT that I am quite taken with, but will need your input on whether these cars are really worth the asking price. Anyhow, a few snap shots of some of the cars that I have been lucky enough to play with over the last 8yrs to whet your appetite: Gerald, 1380 Mini. Heather, my first classic 900 Turbo Willard, my current daily driver Evo Racer Toria, the good ladies daily I could go on with various other cars that have come and gone but you get the idea. Anyhow, I look forward to asking you questions and hopefully meeting up in the new year if the Evo sells! -=F=-

Expert Posts: 11052 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: Wolverhampton | some awesome motors there mate welcome, in regards to your question about going to Talon they come highly recommended on here however if it were me i'd save a wedge and build your own even if its just for the enjoyment. 100% reliability with a K series might be a long stretch but its possible - you could always go to a honda powerplant if you fancy fabrication work, its been done before. Or be the first person to put a TCI-tech turbo engine from an MG6 in a metro, if it works in a 75 then realistically it should in a metro with enough money and time spent Edited by Gandi69 18/11/2015 4:41 PM

New user Posts: 2 | Thanks for stopping by and saying hello guys. One of the reasons for looking at the Talon car was that it was done already with all the niggles ironed out of it. The thought of having a turn key car appeals for once! My long term plan was to put it on throttle bodies anyway to eek the power up a touch, and it will be nice to drive an NA on track rather than the turbo nutter machines I have been using for the last few years. VTEC sounds interesting, but not sure I want to go down the route. If I was then I would probably end up sticking a Saab engine in it as it would be as much frigging around with a more reliable and powerful lump. Cheers guys, -=F=-
