Location: SandyCroft | Hi all hope your having as good a Friday as any.
i have just finished taking the measurements for my boot install.
I am going for a wood with black felt coating as it will match my current sub box.
What type of wood would you suggest to use?
Also does anybody have any cool ideas or add ons to go with the install?

Location: brighouse just shy huddersfield | to be honest I would just buy a box as they are only cheap and you would spend double the amount of the box on the wood to make one. |

Location: Isle of Wight | I used to make sub enclosures for mates back in the day when everyone had a boot full of amps and speakers.
You can make it as simple or a technical as you like..
I always used MDF (medium density fibreboard). Most places will cut it to size for free or pennies. Glue and screw the joints or use silicon sealant instead of glue. A countersinking bit makes it easy to hide the screws when you cover it.
Its worth matching the subs specs with the enlosure.. The box needs to be of the correct volume and they used to be sealed or ported. Ports can be a circular hole or a letter box type cut out. You can 'tune' the box by varying the the length of a tube glued into the port hole or the size of the hole.
There used to be free software on the web for calculating all the aspects I've mentioned.
If you cut the mdf yourself wear a dust mask as the mdf saw dust is carcinogenic!
