Hmmm lots of bass heavy audio here

One 400W RMS Alpine amp for an Alpine 10" sub
One 150W RMS Alpine amp for front comps
Alpine HU
New front comps to come soon after I busted one of the tweeters on my Infinity Reference ones

To be fully soundproofed and in time MDF baffles for the comps. Should give nice SQ and able to turn it up a bit... can't see what you would want 1800W RMS bass for, surely too loud to be in the car with and overpowers the speakers???

from what i remember.... i have 1000rms sub amp with 3000w sub, 500w for my 6-9's and 75w for the tweeters. with a custom wooden housing for the amps (broken shelf unit haha) spare battery and capacitor (added through me being misinformed....) keep the power going with no loss or dimming of lights. interior eq/crossover controls it all and also has an aux out ipods and such. finished off with a kenwood cassette player (dunno the make but decent for the time)

but its ages since i ve even looked at it tho and i did have an issue with grounding no matter where i attached it too

I thought the whole point of having a metro with all its faults and lack of mod-cons was for the huge advantage of SPEED , whats the point filling it with crap that weighs you down and doesnt really improve your life on the road - just attracts even more of 'the wrong' sort of attention

Nope it's a challenge to fit as much kit as I can into it that either didn't exist back in the day or should never work in a tro... decent audio included

My 1.1 must be down to 40bhp now with all the added weight lol, don't care tbh as there's cameras everywhere round here and can't get sub-1k insurance on anything faster anyway due to shitty postcode

Updated Setup!

Subwoofers are running at 800W RMS each and Max 1500W
Speakers are running at 100W RMS each (x8)
Stick a beer bottle on the sunroof and it will smash.

Haha, yeah well, it drops my rear windows down, makes ALL my mirrors change position and changes the mielage on my odometer. BUT its a lot of fun setting off car alarms, im up to about 17 now including flattening my store managers car battery so he had to stay and wait for recovery to get him. TAKE THAT!!

To all you folks quoting your outrageous power figures, please read the continuous power part of this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audio_power

And also power caps....... Why?
There's no need unless youre pulling a continuous 1000w or so. If youre worried about your battery, put a better one in with a better alty.
This is usually a cheaper and less space consuming option than a power cap that will make any tangible difference (assuming you are, infact, pulling 1000w continuous).

I thought these myths had been dispelled

Tommy why do you have a power cap for one sony sub? :/ ive put a vibe black air 10" into the saxo today purely for the fact of less weight the better. ill get a pic taken tomorrow and throw it up! My metro will have nothing but good front components and potentially 6x9s in the rear quarters. other than that the saxo will be the whip if you wana listen to some tunes

I have power cap as 2 amps drain battery fairly quick plus i have an underpowred battery as its a 1..8 vvc and still on standard battery and alternator i got the powercap with the sub and amp so didnt cost me any extra so fitted that cos i had it already sat here.its a capacitor that holds extra charge so rather like having a backup battery does come in handy when all the locks are electronic you cant get in my car with keys only the fob i have at some point got to sort an emergancie entry system otherwise it will mean busting a window to get in lol

Sorry man, but youre talking absolute cow waste.
Capacitors aren't intended or even designed to "hold extra charge", that just isn't what they do.
What they are for is to prevent your amps (and in turn the drivers that they power) from crapping out when there is a voltage peak (for instance, a heavy bass drum note or prolonged wob-wob on a sub).
Their purpose is to maintain output strength, and therefore sound quality regardless of the demands a particular music track may make.

If your audio amps are draining your battery, then you need a red or yellow top (or another battery with a decent figure for cranking amps), thats the long and short of it.
A capacitor WILL NOT save you from battery death in maccies carpark with your engine switched off and your sub up on full gain.

In short, Capacitor does not = Battery.

Oh ok i thought that a capacitor holds charge as it does on electrical components that is what they are designed for to hold power and release. If what you are saying is true then why is it called a "capacitor" surely that would be the wrong name for it... Any how doubles up as a nice in line tester so im not really bothered.

Yeah, but not like a second battery or a HO battery/red or yellow top. Theyre like an emergency resevoir of current.
But if youre drawing enough juice to ACTUALLY NEED a cap, your alty and battery would have kicked the bucket by now.

If youre an electronics nerd...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor

Also, read 2.6 of this
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vehicle_audio#Capacitors

And these weren't hard to find
http://www.caraudio.com/forums/wiring-electrical-installation-help/426247-capacitor-worth.html
http://www.ecoustics.com/electronics/forum/car-audio/409374.html

Don't mean to piss on your chips mate, but you might as well have a lava lamp in there as line tester for all the goo a cap does.
Or better yet, an actual solution... An actual voltage meter (yeah they exist too).

LMAO
Got right up your nose with that didn't I.

If I knew how to weld mate, I would have. From now on Im sticking to cars that I wont need more than a socket set and a jack to maintain and modify.
Ive reached the age where I'm inclined to believe that replacing metal shouldn't be necessary to pass an MOT. I've got better things to do with my time. Hence, the car went.
I stick around becuase this is a great forum and I still love Metros, but I also hate them because they're an arse to keep.

Glad to hear you enjoyed welding her up so very much.

And furthermore lad, I wasn't slating you, I was just informing the uninformed.

This thread had nowt to do with my car, and you thought that making some passing derogatory reference to it would in some way win the argument?

They were right, this place really is full of muppets these days.
Unfortunately Thomas, theyre a dying breed for a reason. They rot. Just like many an old design before them.
Im glad youre enthusiastic, because you need that to be able to spend every winter on your back, under your car, in the rain with rust in your eyes.
I've gotten past that. Life's a lot different when youre not living with mummy and daddy. You'll work that out soon enough.

Take care kidda

Well very bloody nice for ya mate. You must be the happiest man alive.
I didn't slate anyone, or their car. I was making light of how many people will actually put money into a long standing myth about 'saving their battery' with cutting remarks and well worded humour. aka sarcasm.
Its all there in black and white, go check.
It was the 'grown man' in the thread who started with the name calling. So don't even TRY that with me.
While I'm here, just who is this 'everyone' Im slating people who throw money at a myth. If this applies to you, then unlucky!
If you've taken offence then tough.

And to be honest mate, I wouldn't be arsed about it that much except for the fact I'm straight up correct, and I cant stand it when the one who shouts loudest gets heard even though they're the most uninformed dullard on the planet.
And if you think that this applies to you then sort your shit out.

Running an alpine headunit, single set of pioneer coaxials up front running off the headunit some alpine coaxials in the rear running from the hu also but i dnt reali need them as the sound stage is all rong with them in lol. Got 4awg wiring, my amp is a lanzar vector mono, my sub is 12" pioneer champion dvc in a sealed box. Its all wired up so the voice coils are running of seperate channels not bridged running at 2ohms and id say bwt 3 to 400 wats rms, so not much but its for quality rather than quantity. ( i could have just said my amp says 1950w max and my sub says 3500w max lol)
